Storage Services

Commercial Pallet Storage

As we move through the recent budget changes, more and more businesses are looking to cut costs.  One good way of doing this is downsizing, but this can be difficult, especially if you’re a business that goes through busy periods.

But what if you want to cover the busy business periods without paying for the extra storage?

The simplest solution is commercial pallet storage, whereby you can relatively cheaply arrange to get your products stored for the short or long-term and gain access to them when you need them.

Trek Removals has always offered storage to both private and commercial clients, but now we’re offering a fully fledged pallet storage service and all within the M25.

Our new service offers businesses real flexibility when it comes to their goods and all within an economical package.

Commercial pallet storage starts at just £2.50 per pallet, with a load / offload cost of just £3.00 per pallet.

We’ve done our homework and we know that these prices are extremely competitive to clients and more importantly that they are significantly lower than renting your own warehouse storage, which can costs tens of thousands of pounds in and around London.

The system we use is 100% secure, has 24 hour CCTV and easy access and best of all there is no minimum storage period, so you can store your goods for a day or a year with no hidden costs.

Many businesses are now utilising the flexibility of commercial pallet storage, seeing it as a chance to grow their business without the gigantic costs involved in having  a warehouse, all the business rates that are associated with it and of course the cost of additional staff to man it all.

So whether you’re a small retailer looking to grow or you’re a large retailer that’s running out of your current space, consider Trek for your commercial pallet storage.

We can even arrange collection and delivery of your pallets at your convenience and you’ll be glad to know that we are fully insured, with many years of experience to impart.

Moving to Austria with Trek Removals

In our series of country blogs, we thought it was time to give you the full rundown on the ins and outs of major destinations throughout the world.

Today we’re focusing on Austria and all the things you may want to know if you’re thinking of relocating there!

A move to Austria

When you want to arrange a move to Austria, whether it’s in the middle of the countryside or you’ve got an exciting new life planned in Vienna Trek Removals has years of experience that we can offer to help you with your needs.

Importing your possessions to Austria

You may already be aware that Austria is in the European Union and therefore most of your possessions can be imported into the country duty free, as long as you have owned them for more than six months.

It is always advisable in any move to make sure you have an inventory of course but as long as you’re moving from an EU country to Austria you will not need any other paperwork as such.  Obviously there are caveats to this so if you’re unsure, feel free to contact us and ask!

What can’t you import to Austria?

You shouldn’t really import things like inflammable substances, firearms or ammunition, plants and plant materials, food items, offensive materials and alcohol / tobacco.

Again, there are lots of regulations in place so if you have anything unusual to take with you in your move to Austria you may want to speak to us first!

How long does it take?

Obviously this can depend very much on the route taken to Austria, delays (if applicable) may occur at toll roads, checkpoints or borders – but where possible Trek Removals will try and give you an accurate estimate with any removal.

What about the dog?

You might have to consider a specialised animal shipper as you will need all the correct documentation in order to take your dog or any of your animals to Austria.

Can I take my car?

There are special compliance rules for importation of a motor vehicle to the country of Austria.  You may have to pay duty and tax on your vehicle as well.  When you import a vehicle you will need to notify the local fiscal office and like in the UK, you will need to pay consumer tax on your vehicle.

Getting Trek to move you to Austria

We have undertaken a broad range of removals for people moving all over Europe and the rest of the world, so we have the experience to offer door to door removals and shipping and are always happy to deal with any requests you might have.

Living in the country of Austria

Austria is a beautiful country and offers a mix of European culture and Western European standards of living.  Therefore, if you’re planning on becoming an expat, you will find it an exciting place to live.

Whether you want beautiful countryside, a historic setting or something a little more sophisticated in a city, Austria is diverse and has so much to offer.

Vienna is the place that Austria’s economy and politics is based and it has a multitude of cultural experiences on offer – such as theatre, opera, jazz, classical music and obviously fine art.

Austria is bordered by the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary and Germany  and is deemed to be one of the wealthiest countries in the world, so the cost of living can be a little higher than average.

Some essential info’ about Austria

The official langue of Austria is German with almost 90% of the population speaking it.

Austria is eco-friendly.  Over 60% of its electricity is provided via renewable resources.

Austria was the home for many of the world’s most famous composers including; Mozart, Schubert and Strauss – possibly on account of the fact that Vienna was the centre of music in Europe back in the day.

Vienna is a World Heritage Site.

Living in Austria

Any EU or EEA citizens can go to Austria without needing any kind of visa or permit to work. However, if you plan on a permanent move you will need to obtain an official residence permit.

The school system in Austria is free and highly revered.  Therefore if you have children you may want to consider an international school but also a German speaking school

Case Study

Julia was offered a temporary, job relocation and needed to move to another area of the UK for 12 months.  This was a great opportunity but Julia was worried about the costs associated with moving, but more importantly she was worried about how she would meet a mortgage payment and a rent payment each month.

She didn’t want to sell her property and so, she decided to let her two bedroom flat out to professionals.

While trying to find the perfect tenants, she was constantly asked for unfurnished and part-furnished options so she knew she was going to need to find somewhere to store everything if she was going to successfully let out her flat.

So, she decided she would let out her flat as a part-furnished concern and arranged for a packing service to pick up her bed, her sofa and some of the things she wanted to keep but couldn’t take with her to her new job.

So once packed, the items were then picked up and moved for her to secure storage for 12 months, giving Juila, the chance to have, a stress free work relocation without any worry about money.

Whatever reason you may have for storage, Trek Removals can help you, pack the items for storage up for you and collect them in a fuss free manner, without paying through the nose.

Cleaning your house or office after a removal

When it comes to removals in London, we have helped a number of people and businesses and home owners alleviate the stress of moving from one place to another.

However, there is one part of the whole experience which often gets overlooked – even though it can cause a problem when you move from or to anywhere.  Cleaning!

Let’s face it, it’s no one’s favourite job and can take a lot of time, especially if it needs to be done to a high standard.  And do you really want the guy that’s responsible for your website spending time cleaning skirting boards and desks?  This is particularly important when you consider how much his hourly rate might be, meaning his efforts are better placed elsewhere.

Countless times businesses have moved in to sparkling new offices, only to find that there isn’t much of a shine on anything, just a lot of builder’s dust to ruin clothes, computer and IT equipment and provide staff with what is generally an unpleasant experience.

Needless to say this has serious implications on costs as well, because the longer your staff are cleaning and tidying up, the less time they’re spending on what’s important…your clients and business.

And if you’re a homeowner, you probably have better things to do than clean the house you’ve just left.  After all, you’ll be pretty preoccupied with the boxes at the other end of the move!

So, in a change to our normal blogging antics, we thought we would let you know a bit about the cleaning service we offer.

It isn’t completely new, but it is a bespoke service we offer to our clients as we know that it is not a lot of fun after you’ve spent all of your energy organising a move.

The cleaning service is highly competitive and is designed to give your home or office a thorough clean so you can worry about more important things.

Our cleaning team are highly experienced, thorough and can make a room look and smell fresh with ease.

We provide all the best cleaning materials and equipment required and it can be booked as part of your removal.

So if you’re not relishing the thought of cleaning in the middle of your move – whether that’s from an office in London to er..another office in London or if you’re worried about keeping the kids occupied during house move, then contact us to see how we can help you.

We offer a professional removal and can easily add our cleaning service for you – yet again taking some of the stress and strain away from you.

The Office – commercial removals

Say goodbye to David Brent and hello to the new office! Some people are using 2012 as an opportunity to start anew in a brand new office in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Cardiff, you name it! Major office moves to major cities.

While the last few years have seen many businesses suffer the wrath of the economic downturn others have prospered and grown; so much so that they need to expand in terms of their space and capacity. There are the other businesses that have decided to downsize or relocate too. Whatever the reason for the move there will always be a need for someone to be there in order to implement it.

Trek Removals specialises in office removals, commercial storage and office relocations. We don’t just cater for domestic home removals; we are a fully qualified, professional business moving company. Our experience has seen us deal with companies large and small from across all business sectors including government organisations.

Here are Trek Removals top tips for moving office:

1.       Consider your office space

Office relocations can vary due to a number of factors. For instance; are you looking at moving a small office of 1 or are you looking to move an office that employs 1,000? How much office equipment do you need to move? Are you disposing of some items or are you gutting the entire office and taking it with you?

2.       Plan your escape

Office removals should always be handled by a professional removals company. It is never advisable to handle this particular kind of move independently! The amount of desks, chairs, equipment, small items and additional amenities that need to be inventoried, packed and moved can very quickly overwhelm you. The key to moving a business is efficiency.

3.       Consider your office relocation budget

Whether you like it or not, office removals are going to cost money. Stay on top of the costs by identifying the necessary expenditure of the office relocation. Any decent removals company should be able to provide you with a free moving quote to give you an idea of the cost.

4.       Uprooting your business? Time to upgrade it too!

Moving office can give you the chance to review your current capabilities as a business. Consider upgrading your business communications and facilities. If you have IT consultants ask them for advice on whether or not improvements can be made in terms of the equipment and technology used for the business.

5.       Create your checklist

Make sure that you prepare a checklist of items that need to be moved. Office removals companies create detailed inventories but it is always advised that the business draw up its own list as well to make sure nothing gets left behind or overlooked. It helps you to check if all desks have been cleared; that supply cabinets have been emptied; that all items have been labelled etc.

Here’s how Trek Removals deals with an office relocation/removal:

  • Full organisation of the relocation
  • Sequential packing
  • Specialist packing by our staff
  • Labelling systems to ensure accurate relocation
  • Protection of premises and valuable items
  • Efficient management of the entire relocation

We take on the whole shebang!
