While we are very proud to be a well known and highly trusted London removals service, we also take pride in the fact that we are also a highly regarded storage company, storing everything from hotel tables through to entire house contents.

Our services are broad and we offer 24 hour security as standard, we’re fully insured and all clients get exclusive access to their belongings, without any hidden charges.

We over personal storage, commercial storage and have the facilities to store home contents / furniture.

We also offer packing materials as well as a pretty nifty packing service if you are too busy to do that yourself.

Many people use storage when they move, or perhaps when they go to university for example, but as we approach Spring, there is also a need for storage so that home decorating / works can take place without ruining your possessions.

Our storage facility is guarded by CCTV at all times, our service is extremely high and you’ll find us to be one of the most competitive storage companies in London.

Case Study

Julia was offered a temporary, job relocation and needed to move to another area of the UK for 12 months.  This was a great opportunity but Julia was worried about the costs associated with moving, but more importantly she was worried about how she would meet a mortgage payment and a rent payment each month.

She didn’t want to sell her property and so, she decided to let her two bedroom flat out to professionals.

While trying to find the perfect tenants, she was constantly asked for unfurnished and part-furnished options so she knew she was going to need to find somewhere to store everything if she was going to successfully let out her flat.

So, she decided she would let out her flat as a part-furnished concern and arranged for a packing service to pick up her bed, her sofa and some of the things she wanted to keep but couldn’t take with her to her new job.

So once packed, the items were then picked up and moved for her to secure storage for 12 months, giving Juila, the chance to have, a stress free work relocation without any worry about money.

Whatever reason you may have for storage, Trek Removals can help you, pack the items for storage up for you and collect them in a fuss free manner, without paying through the nose.

The best places in the UK to move to

So you’re thinking about moving but you’re not sure where to?

As far as we’re concerned at Trek Removals, the world is your oyster. We just want to help you get there. But if we at a push to recommend some of the best places in the UK as moving destinations then we’d list the following:

5.  Birmingham (Central)

People may be surprised at this one but at present Birmingham’s city centre is incredibly cheap to buy a property in, which means it could prove a wise investment for the discerning house-buyer and flat-hunters.

4. Oxford

Okay, so Oxford isn’t exactly cheap in comparison to Birmingham but this is one of the few cities in the entire country that seems to remain impervious to the economic downturn. Property market and employment is still extraordinarily healthy.  Plus, it’s such a lovely place to visit, who wouldn’t want to live there?

3. Milton Keynes

Known by some as London’s overspill town, this is an area with direct links to the country’s capital without all the hustle, bustle and noise. Securing property here is a smart investment if you are looking for a close proximity town to the city without having to pay big city prices.

2. Exeter

Exeter is on the M5 and has its own airport. Not only does it o have one the UK’s most well-regarded universities it’s rugby team is in the premiership! In other words it’s in a prime-location where property is extremely reasonable. Exeter is just one of those cities that you have to live in at some point in your life.

1. Kent

Like Oxford it’s a place that oozes class and prestige. Its transport links are top trumps all around with easy access to Central London. Family houses can still be purchased around there for roughly £200,000, which considering the quality of the area itself is a pretty exciting opportunity for any home-movers-and-shakers. Kent is truly a beautiful place to live and work.

Of course it all depends on your own personal preferences and reasons for moving, but this list is what we feel are the best options for those going in for the home relocations and domestic removals.  Wherever you need to get to you can be sure that we’ll be able to get you there, efficiently and with a minimum of hassle.

Discover your prime location and contact us at Trek Removals for a free home removals quote. Happy house hunting in the meantime!

Cleaning your house or office after a removal

When it comes to removals in London, we have helped a number of people and businesses and home owners alleviate the stress of moving from one place to another.

However, there is one part of the whole experience which often gets overlooked – even though it can cause a problem when you move from or to anywhere.  Cleaning!

Let’s face it, it’s no one’s favourite job and can take a lot of time, especially if it needs to be done to a high standard.  And do you really want the guy that’s responsible for your website spending time cleaning skirting boards and desks?  This is particularly important when you consider how much his hourly rate might be, meaning his efforts are better placed elsewhere.

Countless times businesses have moved in to sparkling new offices, only to find that there isn’t much of a shine on anything, just a lot of builder’s dust to ruin clothes, computer and IT equipment and provide staff with what is generally an unpleasant experience.

Needless to say this has serious implications on costs as well, because the longer your staff are cleaning and tidying up, the less time they’re spending on what’s important…your clients and business.

And if you’re a homeowner, you probably have better things to do than clean the house you’ve just left.  After all, you’ll be pretty preoccupied with the boxes at the other end of the move!

So, in a change to our normal blogging antics, we thought we would let you know a bit about the cleaning service we offer.

It isn’t completely new, but it is a bespoke service we offer to our clients as we know that it is not a lot of fun after you’ve spent all of your energy organising a move.

The cleaning service is highly competitive and is designed to give your home or office a thorough clean so you can worry about more important things.

Our cleaning team are highly experienced, thorough and can make a room look and smell fresh with ease.

We provide all the best cleaning materials and equipment required and it can be booked as part of your removal.

So if you’re not relishing the thought of cleaning in the middle of your move – whether that’s from an office in London to er..another office in London or if you’re worried about keeping the kids occupied during house move, then contact us to see how we can help you.

We offer a professional removal and can easily add our cleaning service for you – yet again taking some of the stress and strain away from you.

The team at Trek!

If your house removal goes wrong, what do you do?

As a leading London removals company, Trek Removals has seen it all.  We’ve helped people move their entire house from one end of London to another and as more ‘man and van’ type services, that offer cheap removals crop up all over the city, we’ve also seen an increase in the number of people coming to us when their move has gone wrong.

So this blog is designed to help you out just a little bit if the worse happens and to let you know that it needn’t be all bad, what you might do and how you can avoid it happening in the first place.

When you move home, the stress can be horrendous.  While a good removal firm will try and alleviate that stress by doing a good job based on their experience of hundreds of removals, there is the odd occasion where things don’t quite go according to plan.

A professional outfit will always look after you and if they’re like us and part of Bar (British Association of Removers) they will have a very strict set of guidelines to adhere to.    The Bar offers free advice and lots of information as to what your rights are and you can get this by visiting their WEBSITE.

One of the biggest problems we see is where people have booked a removal firm but they just haven’t turned up.  Needless to say, it is not hard to work out why this can be a disaster on the day of your move.

It’s not only terribly inconvenient but also costly – especially if you’ve taken time off work or if as you’re moving out the next owners are moving in.

So, in this instance, the simple advice is this.  Don’t opt for cheap and cheerful if you want to look after yourself should anything go wrong and if they don’t turn up, go to someone like Bar to get them to help you claim back costs if applicable.

Try and make sure you get some kind of testimonials when choosing a removal firm.  Again, the onus here is on avoiding cheap and cheerful if you can’t see any evidence to suggest that the company is reputable, reliable and will see the job through from start to finish.

Ensure you get the removal details set out in writing.  This will include the name of the firm, the address and time at which they are supposed to arrive and of course most importantly, the date of the removal.  This is vital and should never be ignored.

Finally, if you end up with broken or damaged possessions because a removal firm hasn’t done their best to look after your things, then you will want to ensure before the move that they have good insurance.

A lot of people get sidetracked and obviously feel that the cost of removals is something they want to avoid – especially if there are going to be costs associated in the house that they’re moving to, or indeed a costly mortgage to think about.  However, when you weigh up all of this, it’s safest to make sure that you pay a bit more for the quality of service you deserve.

If you’ve been left high and dry on your removal and need some help then do CONTACT US for advice and a lifeline.  If we can provide one we will be happy to do so!

Home Move Horror Stories – An International Removals Nightmare

Trek Removals seeks to inform and educate on the problems that can happen if people don’t use professional removal companies when it comes to moving home, moving office or international moves. These are true horror stories of moves gone very wrong.

Entrusting an entire van full of everything you hold dear to an absolute stranger can understandably be a bit of a worrying experience – especially if you’ve read our previous few blog articles on home move horror stories. When this stranger has the responsibility of seeing your possessions across borders, across oceans even, these natural concerns are bound to multiply further still. For one unlucky man, choosing the wrong international removals company meant having all these fears come true at once, leaving him stranded and sorely regretting the thousands he’d paid for such poor quality service.

The story begins with this man’s decision to relocate from France to pursue a new career in the UK. Having arranged a start date for his new job in England and contacted a removals company which had marketed itself as an expert in overseas removals, it seemed like everything was in place for a smooth international move.

International Removals the way they should be done with Trek

Unfortunately, as the day of the big move approached, doubts started to creep in. Each time this poor man tried to ring his removals company, his calls were ignored, no matter how many times he dialled their number. Things then went from bad to worse, and as the proposed pick-up time for his belongings came and went, there was still no answer.

With the man’s contract on his apartment quickly running out, he was forced to call out an alternative removals driver to empty his flat since the original never showed up. Missing his move-out deadline by just a few hours as his items were loaded up late into the night, not only was he forced to pay a huge £100 tip to the removals men for overtime, he also lost the deposit on his flat.

Tired and stressed, he was then forced to make a gruelling 5 hour overnight drive alone to get to the ferry port in time, putting his safety at risk given his state of exhaustion.  To add to his frustration with the removals company’s service so far, the driver in charge of his items also informed him that despite being assured his belongings would be delivered within 4 days, that particular van was in fact not due back in the UK until a week later.

So what did this shambolic company have to offer the man for this inconvenient delay, which forced him to delay the start of his new job by 3 days? Nothing, it turns out. The company’s usual compensation gift of a £100 voucher and 1 night’s hotel stay were never offered.  Instead they falsely alleged that the man’s belongings had exceeded the agreed capacity in the removals contract by 5 cubic metres, and ‘generously’ offered to waive the £800 fine they intended to charge him.

With disrespectful and dishonest international removals companies behaving in such a way, it’s unsurprising that so many people are anxious about moving abroad. Rest assured though, not all removals companies are built alike; just contact us for a free no obligation moving quote and we’ll talk you through our process and how Trek Removals can make your international move a smooth transition with zero stress.

London Removals – Horror Stories: Wrong Move

Trek Removals continues its descent into the bowels of home moving hell! We have searched and researched the worst moving stories that we could dig up and tell you. These stories are cautionary tales to learn something from when it comes to house removals, commercial moves, relocations and storage.

In today’s moving horror story we take a look at the perils of a 2.4 children family versus a cowboy removal company that gave them a most unexpected surprise.

The family unit was planning their move from Manchester to London. They had called upon the services of a small London Removal Company that had “experience” with long haul moves. They negotiated a rather cheap deal and the moving wheels were set in motion. If there is a moral to this story it probably would be “you get what you pay for.”

The family entrusted their entire household belongings into the hands of this firm, which turned out to be a Father and his two sons. The family unit seemed a bit wary at first as the Father & Son removal company was almost two hours late arriving.

Once they finally did show up they began working with enough speed, vigour and professionalism to quell any doubts. In fact, they seemed almost like they knew what they were doing.

The family unit were going to follow the vans on back to London but along the way they lost sight of the moving vans on the motorway. They assumed that they were far ahead of them.

The family unit arrived at their new home and found that there was no sign of the removal vans. They waited for an hour before calling ahead to the “expert” removal company. One of the sons answered and said that they were at the new house and currently unloading the boxes!

After initial confusion passed, it only became clear what had happened once the question was asked, “What address are you at?”

The removal boys had driven this family unit’s entire household belongings to the wrong London address on the complete wrong side of the city. What was worse is that the house the removal men had arrived at was already inhabited by an elderly couple!

It took hours to sort out the mess, and the Father & Son removal company even tried to charge the family extra for the delay. The family of course refused.

This is just another cautionary moving horror tale about a “supposed-to-be standard” home move that went horribly wrong. If you want to avoid becoming the subject of one of these stories then look into getting a free moving quote from a professional home removals company that has a proven track record in moving and relocations.
