Moving home or relocating business – who you gonna call?

When there’s something strange in your neighbourhood and you just want to move away, who you gonna call? Trek Removals that’s who!

We’ve been moving people from A to B for years now and we have come to learn that the moving process is indeed an exact science. It requires skill, experience and planning to pull it off without a hitch and that’s something only a professional removals service can do for you.

We’re based out of London and predominantly move people’s belongings to new homes or help businesses to relocate. Sometimes it’s not even a move to somewhere within the UK, European Removals are just as common seeing both homeowners and businesses pitching their stake down in another country.

So you’re planning on trading up on place for another, what do you do?

Well, it can be simple or it can be complicated. If you tackle the move yourself then you are in for a lot of heavy lifting, damaged or lost furniture, delays, set-backs and stresses. Anyone who has ever done a DIY move knows just how much of an unhappy experience it can become. Then again, if you employ the services of a cowboy removal firm to help you in order to cut corners and save money, things can go from bad to worse in the blink of an eye.

The problems inherent within trying to cut corners in a home removal or office removal is that you leave yourself vulnerable to all sorts of unpredictable factors that could cause your smooth transition from A to B to collapse in a big heap.

At Trek Removals we plan everything for you right down to the last detail. Why? Because that’s the only way to root up a person’s life or business and transplant it to another location. This cannot be done without thorough planning and precise execution.

We do the packing for you and compile an inventory of what we are transporting for you. All your furniture is fully insured in transit and properly packed and secured. There are no breakages or inexplicable damages to your property. It just doesn’t happen. And shouldn’t! Then if you want us to unpack and place the furniture in its new place we provide an unpacking service on top of the removal.

If you’ve got items that you can’t fit into the new property or items you just want to keep stored away we have a special removals service storage option where we can keep your unwanted’s in totally secure storage units on our home site which is the safest place in the world to keep them.

This is why you need to call Trek Removals when it comes to moving home or relocating your business because we know how to do it for you and do it right.

Fragile – handle with care

We’ve been in the moving business for a long time and in that time we have come to learn that all a person’s furniture is fragile and should be treated as such. However, there are also the kind of fragile items that are more fragile than others. Trek Removals has learnt to deal with them in the most delicate and effective ways.

Fragile items are usually valuable, either sentimentally or financially, which is why it pays to have them professionally packed and transported. You don’t want to risk breakage or damage by doing it yourself unless you are extremely protective over these items, which is entirely understandable.

Fragile goods come in all shapes and sizes and require different specialised handling. Here’s a brief list of types of fragile items we have encountered and dealt with before:

 • Artwork – paintings & sculptures
 • Bottles – often wine collections or old liquor collections
 • Ceramics, Chinaware & Glassware
 • Crematory remains – the ashes of loved ones is a common item to be transported
 • Electronics of a delicate nature – may include televisions and computers
 • Fireworks/flammable/explosive materials
 • Household articles such as lamps, coffee tables, objects made from wood and glass
 • Musical instruments – pianos and guitars are the most common but it could be anything from a violin to a whole orchestra!
 • Ornaments – China, glass, crystal, ceramic etc.
 • Perishables – as in flowers, potted plants, food, medicines
 • Sporting goods equipment

These are just some examples of what can be considered fragile.

With a Removals service you can opt for our packing services on top of our removals service. This provides a safe and secure method for packing up your fragile goods and transporting them without any damage. The chain of custody with your furniture is made even more secure as it’s our team that have inventoried, packed, transported and unpacked your valuables. This way nothing gets lost!

The Trek packing service offers:

 • Full-packing service (packing all effects). Stress-free, expert packing, storage and removal services;
 • Part-pack (breakables);
 • Full-pack service;
 • Strong purpose made, protective packaging (see below for full list);
 • Specialist packing of bulky or unusual items;
 • Professional, courteous and punctual staff;
 • Fast, no obligation storage & removal quote;
 • Storage for documents short-term and long-term

We recommend that you consider keeping your fragile items safe by opting for one of our packing options. Keep those family heirlooms and those treasured valuables intact and in one piece when you move home.

Office removal and relocation with Trek Removals

It’s not all houses, flats and bungalows when it comes to the process of moving and relocation. Trek Removals deals in a variety of removal and storage services. We are also a business moving company. If you’re a business, small or large, with offices and headquarters that are moving and relocating to a new area, you’ll need help packing, mobilising and transporting the office furniture to its new location.

Moving offices can be a very tall order if you plan to do it independently. The amount of desks, chairs, equipment, small items and additional amenities that need to be inventoried, packed and moved can very quickly overwhelm you. There needs to be a lot of hands on deck for this to be a successful operation and failure is not an option.

Packing and Unpacking Service
The reason why it is best to opt for office removals over a DIY job is because you need to minimise your business’ downtime and this can only be achieved through a fast, thorough and professional pack-up, transport and unpack by people who do it every week.

The key to moving businesses is efficiency. Trek Removals offer a complete service. We begin by cataloguing all the items and goods that need moving to produce a comprehensive inventory list. This allows us to fully organise the relocation. We know what you have, how much of it and where it needs to go.

Office Storage
Our specialist staff sequentially packs all of the office furniture using labelling systems to ensure accurate relocation takes place. We protect the premises and the valuable items during the move providing an efficient management of the entire office removal.

Transferring office environments to their new residences should be dealt with as efficiently and as carefully as possible. Nothing gets lost in the shuffle if inventories are kept and professionals handle the transportation of everything.

If you are in doubt about office removals then take a look at our horror stories blogs to see just how wrong it can go when you try to do everything yourself or hire a cowboy firm on the cheap. Trek Removals leave nothing to chance.

Student Special – Moving back home

For many students, this time of year signifies the end of term but also the end of three years hard work, studying for a degree.

So now you’ve done the hard work what’s next?

For many graduates, it’s a new job calling and for some, travelling the world for a well earned rest.

Here at Trek Removals we have moved many students onto new pastures – whether they have been moving back home or to a big city like London for an exciting new job and the one thing we’ve noticed is how much they seem to have collected since the start of their study. We’ve even happily stored possessions for those who don’t want to get rid of the things they’ve accrued over time.

So if you’re a student looking at your next adventure, you may find our student moving guide really useful!

What to do and when

If you are nearing the end of your term and haven’t quite yet figured out what you’re going to do, you should probably spend a bit of time sorting through the things you definitely want to keep, and the things you don’t!

If you’ve purchased books for your degree but don’t really feel like keeping them, you can earn a bit of money by putting them on Amazon.

Not surprisingly, academic books are expensive and usually hold a relatively good value upon selling. With Play and Amazon being the top stockists for academic books online, you may want to reconsider just dumping them in the bin! A few extra pounds now could be useful later on after all!

The next thing to consider is packing of course! Assuming you have worked out what you don’t want and what you do want to keep, then you need to start thinking about packing.

This part of the process is a bit time consuming, but it’s worth being organised.

A good idea is to put the items you won’t need for a while together or at least in groups and label the boxes they are packed in accordingly. This makes it particularly easy if you are planning on storing them too. So, if you do leave things boxed up for a few months, you won’t need to open every single box up if you are looking for something.

It’s a good idea to use the correct boxes for packing too. While it’s tempting to look for cheap alternatives, if you value your possessions it’s worth getting good sturdy boxes to pack them in. Also, you should consider taping up the bottoms with good, sturdy parcel tape.

Once you’ve packed up your boxes, the next thing to consider is getting them moved.

Here you should be a bit cautious as cheap may seem cheerful but it’s not necessarily the best way to go. Cheaper man and van type removals do not always have insurance for example – so if you end up having a breakage or worst still – a lost box or two – you won’t have any decent way to claim the loss back.

Therefore, a professional BAR registered company will be a safer way to go.

You will want to call your removal company to tell them where you are moving from and to, when you plan to move and look at providing a full inventory of the items being moved for yours and their protection.

They will be able to give you a quote based on your needs and – in some circumstances – if you don’t need the goods delivered to a new address immediately, may be able to combine your boxes with another move so you could even save money.

And of course, there’s always the option to store your possessions for a while if you just want a bit of freedom and space to decide what you will be doing.

Storage can offer very good value when it comes to your possessions and if you can find a company that offers short-term and long-term storage, you will get a lot of flexibility.

Happy moving!
